i'm reading through the watchtower rule book right now and i came to the chapter clarification and guidelines on handling certain matters.
there is a part about scriptural divorce and even if adultery is not proved if your ex stayed all night or is involved in an immoral sleeping arrangement you can get scriptural grounds to remarry.. .
they make a rule, then they have to make a rule for the rule, make another rule for the rule for the rule.
"you can have scriptural grounds to remarry".
just making up a get out clause, in a desperate bid to hang on to a few more "faithful"
just had a sick conversation with my jw father when picking up by kid.
dad: so things looking really bad in n korea huh?.
they rattle the cage every few years and everyone seems to just appease them.. dad: yeah, but this new guy, i mean he is just sounds plain crazy.
my mother was the same in 1962, with the cuba crisis.
if i remember correctly there were more than 100 million books distributed around the world in the the 1960`s.. and if i remember correctly it was listed amongst the ten most distributed/published books by the guiness book of records .. and if i`m not mistaken "paradise lost to paradise regained" was also on this list.
and even in one year about that time their were no less than four of the societys publications on the 10 most distributed books ever.
at that time.. how much of what was printed in those publications then, is relevant to what is beleived today.
but how many people actually read it?

when i was a dub i was petrified of displeasing the trademark imaginary god that the wbt$ had invented.
i feared that kind of death.. the thought of being unconscious totally forevermore seems so weird.. now that i know the wbt$ was lying (as usual), and i realise there can't possibly be a god as described in religion i am now faced with the reality that i'll be dead and gone with nothing to carry me on after in a conscious way.
just because i don't want this to happen doesn't mean it won't.. oh, darn!
I think about this all the time. not in a morbid way though. Thank god we got out of that horrible, life wasting religion when we did.
On another note, someone once made me think that we all are reabsorbed by this good earth beneath our feet. one day, i'll become part and parcel of this planet. In a way, i'll be reunited with my dad,my daughter, and others that I loved so much. This thought kind of comforts me in the face of the inevitable.
In the meantime........enjoy.
it was last year at easter time that i had a big insight that still looms large with me.
my elderly mother was living with me and she had been suffering from dementia.
i was taken aback why this one elder would come over once a month to try to get my mom to come up with 15 minutes of fs.
sorry to hear about your mum roberta. funny, but I now find myself in exactly the same position.no one but no one from this ''loving'' religion comes to see my aged lonely mum.I thought that at least when they heard of her early stage of illness, that they would come and comfort her. One ''brother'' does come to take her out on a mag route, once a month. How kind.

welcome to the forum apocryphal. Looking forward to your contributions. On here,at least, you can be yourself. you have the right to your opinions.I miss my family, but less than in the past. If they didnt have this hold over people, easily 50% would leave straight away.
so i let my adult son borrow my cell phone.
when i get it back, i find that he had reset the texting so that every time i put in a letter i have to arrow over to hit the selection ffrom a bunch of choices at the bottom!
bad enough i don't have a qwerty text keyboard....now it takes ten minutes just to write one stupid sentence.. and..... although he is the one who reset it, he does not know how to undo it!.
look up the make and model on the web. you should be able to find the user manual. Download the pdf version.
then get your son to read it and find out how to put it back to normal.
you may remember some time ago i released a song entitled "sparlock we love you" on youtube.. the song was a parody of the "become jehovah's friend" dvd, and became very popular - with well over 10,000 views last time i checked.. i did consider the possibility that the society would complain on grounds of copyright infringement, because i used some specially-altered versions of images on the dvd, such as the one below.... .
however, i shrugged this off, because i thought even the society wouldn't be as petty as to publically complain about the way the images were used.. nevertheless, they did.
today i got the following email.... dear john cedars,we have disabled the following material as a result of a third-party notification from watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvanias, claiming that this material is infringing:.
I can imagine the you-tube team laughing their socks off, whilst watching your parody of the watchtower borg.
So they have to abide by the law, but that doesnt stop them having a sence of humour.
And since they must get a lot of complaints from the borg, what kind of impression must that give the youtube employees?
